This Weekend ‘The Sun Will Come Up’

On NMS Production Of Annie

More than 100 Newtown Middle School students have been busy preparing for this weekend’s production of Annie for the school’s spring musical.

Annie, a musical about an orphan’s search of finding a family, opens Friday, March 20, at 7 pm. On Saturday, March 21, the curtain opens at 7 pm and Sunday, March 22, there will be a 2 pm show.

Adult tickets for the show cost $13 and student tickets cost $10 each. All seating is general admission.

“This show inspires hope,” said Jenn Sinal, who is directing the play with Susan Lang. “And that’s why we do this, to bring the kids to a new level of inspiration and hope.”

NMS student Emily Anderson, who will be playing the lead role of the orphan Annie, said the production has been an interesting experience, and she has appreciated working with professionals.

“This has always been my ­dream role,” said Emily, adding that the play is all about friendship and family.
