Newtown's Inaugural Restaurant Week Set For September
Newtownâs Inaugural Restaurant Week Set For September
Beginning September 6, local restaurants will offer diners one of the broadest reaching, most price-conscious dining promotions of its kind with the debut of Newtown Restaurant Week. The ten-day dining celebration will take place September 6â16, at an expanding roster of area restaurants offering three-course meal deals and buy one-get one offers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
More than a dozen restaurants have signed on so far.
A dedicated website is available to view information about participating restaurants and the specials menus offered during the event. In addition, a program booklet including restaurant profiles will be distributed at the Labor Day Parade.
Newtown Restaurant Week is organized by Jantris Marketing Services in partnership with the Town of Newtown, Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, the Newtown Economic Development Commission, and Sal e Pepe Contemporary Italian Bistro.
The advantage offered during Restaurant Week is that restaurant goers can plan and save for multiple experiences at various restaurants over the ten-day event. Restaurant goers are encouraged to âweigh inâ on the best offers from all of the restaurants on Facebook.
According to First Selectman Pat Llodra, âOnce people are introduced to a restaurant for the first time, they are much more likely to return to it after having a positive experience. We need to put a focus regionally on the fact that the Newtown community has the destination appeal that you canât find in other towns, and I think Restaurant Week is a great way to do that.â
âIt is our genuine hope that diners will take complete advantage of Newtown Restaurant Week. The ten-day frenzy is a celebration of food, but it is also a way for us, the local restaurants, to thank diners for their continued support,â noted Angelo Marini, owner of Sal e Pepe Contemporary Italian Bistro, winner of Connecticut Magazineâs Best Italian Restaurant in 2011.
âOur restaurant community needed a promotion that restaurants could really get behind and support. At the same time, the promotion had to resonate with diners in price, menu quality, and number of participating restaurants,â said Tricia Farin, president, Jantris Marketing Services.
Largely based on the success of other Restaurant Weeks across the state, the promotion is open to any restaurant in Newtown that can offer a value-driven menu in one of three price points, $5, $15, or $25 or a buy one-get one offer. Restaurants wanting to participate in Newtown Restaurant Week can e-mail tfarin@jantris.com to communicate their interest.
Any business in and around Newtown is encouraged to support the event as a sponsor or an advertiser on the website or in the program book.
