Morrissey Named BHC Controller

BRIDGEPORT — Donald J. Morrissey of Newtown has been promoted to the position of BHC Company controller. BHC formerly was known as Bridgeport Hydraulic.

As controller, Mr Morrissey is responsible for the financial integrity of BHC’s accounting and reporting activities. He joined BHC in 1995 as manager of internal audit and financial projects. He was promoted to manager of accounting in 1998 and director of accounting in 1999.

Before joining BHC, Mr Morrissey held a number of accounting and anuditing managerial positions with Reader’s Digest and Arthur Andersen. He is a Certified Public Accountant, holds an MBA from New York University in finance and international business, and a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut.

Mr Morrissey is involved in several community organizations and is a member of the Housatonic Girl Scouts Board of Directors. He resides in Newtown with his wife, Betsy, and their four children.

The major utility subsidiary of the Aquarion Company, BHC serves some 142,000 homes and businesses, or approximately 500,000 people, through retail and wholesales operations in 29 cities and towns in Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, and Litchfield Counties. It is the largest investor-owned water utility operating in New England and is among the 10 largest in the country. Aquarion and BHC are owned by the Kelda Group PLC of Leeds, England.

Kelda has annual revenues of about $1.3 billion and operates in the United Kingdom and Europe. Its water and sewerage services business, Yorkshire Water Services, provides drinking water to approximately 1.9 million customers, or a population of 4.5 million, in the County of Yorkshire, England. It is one of the 10 largest water companies in the world. Yorkshire Water Service supplies its customers with 350 million of gallons of water daily, treated at 112 water treatment facilities.
