Descendant Of Original Newtown Settlers
Robert F. Peck, 87, died August 23, at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Newtown, March 2, 1924, the son of Louise (Dubret) and John Wesley Peck. He was the husband of Frances (Rant) Peck.
Mr Peck served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Perkin-Elmer Corp after 28 years there.
He loved country music and the Connecticut countryside. In his later years, his favorite pastime was playing music at The Barn in Woodbury with his friends and fellow musicians. He loved to go walking and hiking, and was well-known around town from his daily six- to eight-mile walks.
He was a direct descendent of the Peck family, a founding family of the Connecticut colony and original settlers of Newtown.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he leaves two daughters, Linda Louise Peck of Southbury, and Kimberly Reilly, and her husband Douglas, of Mooresville, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Harley Peck; and three brothers, Wesley, Richard, and Kenneth Peck.
 A graveside service with military honors was scheduled for Friday, August 26, at 2 pm, in Pine Hill Cemetery, Pine Hill Road, Southbury. There are no calling hours.
The Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury, is entrusted with his arrangements.
