Members of the newly formed Newtown Police Explorers, a youth group affiliated with the town police department, plan to hold a fundraising car wash from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday, August 27, at the Botsford Firehouse, 315 South Main Street (Route 25).

The funds raised through donations made at the car wash will be used to purchase uniforms, equipment, and teaching aids for the explorers.

The group plans to conduct other fundraising events in the future.
