Newtown Savings Bank Announces Promotions
Newtown Savings Bank recently announced the following recent promotions:
William J. McCarthy is now senior vice president and chief financial officer. Mr McCarthy was promoted to senior vice president. He oversees the operation of the bankâs financial areas and is responsible for the management of the treasury, investment and financial reporting functions of the bank. a member of the bankâs management team, Mr McCarthy joined the bank in 1999 as a senior financial analyst, and lives in Newtown with his wife Margaret and their two children. In 2007 he was a recipient of the bankâs Jim Osborne Leadership Award, in 2008 he served as the bankâs Newtown Relay For Life team leader, and he is also a coach for Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball. Mr McCarthy holds an economics degree from Fairfield University and an MBA in finance from Sacred Heart University.
Duane H. Giannini was promoted to senior vice president. He joined the bank in 2005 as vice president of human resources and serves on the bankâs management team. Mr Giannini oversees the entire human resource function, including employee benefits, payroll and training and development. Mr Giannini serves as secretary of the Newtown Rotary, vice chairman of the Newtown Board of Police Commissioners, and is also on the United Way Human Resources Committee. He has an MBA from University of New Haven, and received his undergrad degree from Sacred Heart University. Mr Giannini resides in Newtown with his wife Deborah, and they have three daughters.
Brian Amey was promoted to assistant vice president. Mr Amey joined the bank in 2005 as branch manager of the Newtown main office. His strong business development background has led to an increase in the bankâs business relationships and the establishment of a successful Business Before Hours program. A former Newtown resident, Mr Amey now lives in Oxford with his wife Margaret, but is still very active in the Newtown community, serving as treasurer for the Newtown Housing for the Elderly, the Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee, and Newtown Rotary of which he is past president and district governor. Mr Amey served in the Royal Air Force and also has a banking degree from Harrow College of Technology in the United Kingdom.
Matthew Hastava was promoted to assistant vice president. He joined the bank in 1997, and is currently the branch manager of the Bethel Dolan Plaza office. He has always been heavily immersed in the community and serves on numerous boards, including Newtown Youth & Family Services, Bethel Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board for Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut. Mr Hastava has an MBA from Sacred Heart University and an undergraduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University. He is a resident of Southbury.
Patrick Kelley was promoted to assistant vice president. As a commercial loan officer for the bank, Mr Kelley has been recognized for his ability to bring in new business and comprehensively analyze complex commercial loan requests. A bank employee since 2003, he lives in Newtown with his wife Jennifer and is active with Newtown Rotary, having served two terms as treasurer. Mr Kelley currently attends the National School of Banking, and has a degree in finance from Canisius College.
