Mangiafico Magnificent In The Mud

Paul Mangiafico, a rising junior at Newtown High School, was awarded a first-place trophy in his age division at the August 13 Warrior Dash at Windham Mountain, in Windham, N.Y. He placed sixth overall in a field of 9,300 runners.

The Warrior Dash is a 5K race which includes running up a ski slope and facing 12 obstacles such as the “Deadweight Drifter” going through waist-deep water and over rolling logs, “Road Rage” through a scrap yard of old tires and rusted cars, “Warrior Roast” in which participants leap over fire, and “Muddy Mayhem” in which they swim under barbed-wire, through a pit of mud.
