Fundraiser Car Wash, 10 am–2 pm, Berkshire Motors, 25 Berkshire Road, donations accepted in exchange for car washes by members of Newtown High School Varsity Cheer team, funds will be used to help defray costs during upcoming season, team will also be collecting nonperishable food items for FAITH Food Pantry; 203-364-0063.

Fundraiser Car Wash, 10 am–2 pm, Botsford Firehouse, 315 Main Street South, members of recently formed Newtown Police Explorers will wash cars in exchange for donations, fundraiser will help unit purchase uniforms, equipment, and teaching aids.

Annual Ukrainian Festival, begins 11 am, Paproski’s Christmas Tree Farm, 5 Hattertown Road, $2 donation requested, rain or shine event will begin with divine liturgy at 11, afternoon continues with Ukrainian and picnic foods, Ukrainian dance and song, hay rides, pony rides, volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, and more, all welcome; 203-269-5909, 203-426-5487.

LABOR DAY

50th Newtown Labor Day Parade, steps off 10 am from Main Street at Hanover Road, Grand Marshal Lee W. Glover will return to reprise role he held for first parade, leading Newtown’s fire companies and bands, school and local groups and clubs, dancers, floats, military vehicles, politicians and much more including special appearance by Well Fargo stagecoach, debut of Newtown Police Department Honor Color Guard, and flyover by B-25 and two Texan T-6 Flyers, plus pre- and post-parade fair at Newtown Middle School with refreshments and vendors, parade route follows Main Street to Glover Avenue, then northwest onto Queen Street, ending at Church Hill Road.
