Puppy Killed

At about 10:50 am on November 15, a motorist driving a silver-colored auto northward on Boggs Hill Road, near Spring Road, struck and killed a 12-week-old English springer spaniel puppy, police report. The driver did not stop. Police said the vehicle involved in the accident may have been a Toyota Camry. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

 

Evading Responsibility

Police report a two-truck accident on Route 34, near Johnny Appleseed Drive, about 11:30 am November 19. Police said motorist Samantha Bellinsky, 25, of 137 South Main Street was driving a box truck eastward and drifted into the westbound lane, colliding with a westbound lumber truck driven by Ed Marvin, 50, of Waterbury. There were no injuries.

Bellinsky did not stop after the crash, police said, adding that they later found her traveling on Route 34 and stopped her to investigate. 

Police charged Bellinsky with evading responsibility, failure to keep to the right, and driving with a suspended license. Police later released her on $500 bail for a December 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Church Hill Collision

A two-car accident occurred in front of the Shell gas station at 67 Church Hill Road about 11 am November 15, police said.

Motorist Andrea Santella, 41, of 12 Yearling Lane, who was driving a 2002 Dodge Intrepid, exited the gas station onto westbound Church Hill Road and collided with a westbound 1996 Ford Escort driven by Michael Casillo, 53, of 3 Walker Hill Road. There were no injuries. Police issued Santella an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way at a driveway.

Main Street Crash

Motorist Laura E. Lerman, 57, of 55 Main Street, who was driving a 1998 Volvo S-70 sedan northward on Main Street, was attempting to make a left turn into the driveway at that address at about 12:50 pm on November 15, when the Volvo was struck by a northbound 2004 International delivery truck, driven by Mario Reyes, 38, of West New York, N.J., police said. The truck was attempting to pass the Volvo on the right, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Reyes an infraction ticket on charges of passing on the right and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

Saturn Vs Toyota

Motorist Cheryl Haury, 48, of 8 Bridge End Farm Lane, who was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck westward on Church Hill Road at about 11:30 am November 15, stopped at that street’s intersection with Queen Street, police report.

 Motorist Seth Sanborn, 20, of Becaon Falls, who was driving a Saturn SL-1 westward on Church Hill Road, then struck the Toyota from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police gave Sanborn an infraction ticket for following too closely.

Construction Theft

A new home under construction at 14 Brandywine Lane, off Jeremiah Road in Sandy Hook, was the scene of a burglary/larceny sometime between 5 pm on November 19 and 9 am on November 20, police report.

Someone forcibly entered the house and stole several large pieces of construction equipment, including an air compressor, electrical generator, and pipe threader. The stolen items are valued at $4,150. Police ask anyone with information about the theft to contact them at 426-5841.

 

Breach Of Peace

Police received a report of a disturbance at the Friendly Service Station at 151 South Main Street about 5 pm on November 22. After investigating the complaint, police charged Thomas Mulrane, 58, of 22 Mt Laurel Lane with breach of peace. Mulrane had left the gas station before police arrived to investigate, according to police. Police released Mulrane on a promise to appear December 4 in Danbury Superior Court.

NHS Theft

Police lodged criminal charges against two Newtown High School students about 1 pm November 21, after investigating a complaint about stolen items.

Police charged Britt Benson, 17, of 6 Cornfield Ridge Road, and Kaltrina Behluli, 18, of 5 Sycamore Drive each with sixth degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth degree larceny.

Two female students had complained to police that their purses had been taken from a classroom during school hours, police said. Missing items included cash and a cellular telephone. Police said that after investigating the complaint, they charged Benson and Behluli. Both were released on promises to appear December 9 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

DUI Charge

Motorist James Johann, 41, of Warren passed an unmarked police car at the intersection of Routes 25 and 302 at about 10 am November 21 and then proceeded at high speed northward on Route 25, police report.

Police said they stopped Johann to investigate and smelled alcohol, after which they gave him field sobriety testing. Police charged Johann with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, and unsafe passing.

After processing his arrest, police released Johann on a $250 bond for a December 9 court appearance.

Riverside Road DUI

Police said that at about 11:42 pm on November 20, they received a report of a van parked in the middle of Riverside Road in Sandy Hook. Police said they investigated and found Bryan Hardy, 34, slumped over the van’s steering wheel. Police listed alternate Danbury and Bethel addresses for Hardy.

Hardy failed field sobriety testing and was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right, police said.

Police later released Hardy on a $50 bond for a December 4 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Jimmy Off Road

Motorist Steven Buchholz, 21, of 104 Waterview Drive was driving a 1995 GMC Jimmy sport-utility vehicle northward on Toddy Hill Road about 9:13 pm November 22, when he veered across the southbound lane and went off the southbound road shoulder near 86 Toddy Hill Road, police said.

The GMC struck a stone wall. Buchholz was not injured. Police issued Buchholz an infraction ticket for failure to drive to the right.

Pickup Vs Pickup

Motorist Richard Borrelli, Jr, 78, of Darien, who was driving a 2001 Ford F-350 pickup truck southward on South Main Street at about 1:15 pm November 17, stopped at an intersection to make a left turn and was struck from behind by motorist Samyr Oliveira, 21, of Marlboro, N.Y., who was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Oliveira an infraction ticket for following too closely.

Dodgingtown Crash

Police report a two-car accident at the traffic signal in Dodgingtown at the intersection of Route 302, Taunton Hill Road, and Jacklin Road about 9:30 am November 19.

In the accident, motorist Joshua Borchetta, 19, of 10 Willow Brook Lane, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic westward on Route 302, went through a red traffic signal and struck motorist Barry Persky, 64, of 31 Taunton Lane, who was driving a 2001 Audi A-6 and entering the intersection from Taunton Hill Road on a green signal, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Borchetta an infraction ticket for failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Altercation

Police have charged two residents on warrants in connection with an altercation that occurred on September 7.

On November 23, police charged David Kaza, 21, of 4 Clearview Drive with second degree breach of peace. The following day, police charged David Troccolla, 21, of 155 Alpine Drive with third degree assault. Both men were released on promises to appear in Danbury Superior Court. Kaza has a December 9 court date. Troccolla is scheduled to appear on December 10.

High School

On November 23, police charged an unnamed 15-year-old boy on a warrant listing one count of breach of peace in connection with an incident which occurred November 5 at the Newtown High School parking lot. Police investigated a complaint and then obtained the arrest warrant for the boy.

Police said the boy and another person were involved in an incident involving fighting, violence, and threatening behavior. The victim in the case was not injured, police said.

Because the offender is under age 16, his identity is shielded from public disclosure by state law. Police released the boy on a promise to appear December 8 in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Audi Vs Deer

Motorist Sandra K. Stockwell, 56, of 57 Bennetts Bridge Road was driving a 2000 Audi A-6 sedan eastward on Jeremiah Road about 5:52 pm November 20, when the vehicle collided with a deer in the eastbound lane near 48 Jeremiah Road, police said. Stockwell was not injured, police said.

Deer Vs Audi

Motorist Deirdre Segerson, 72, of New London, N.H., was driving a 1999 Audi A-4 Avant station wagon eastward on Route 302 about 6:18 pm November 20, when the auto collided with a deer in the eastbound lane, police report. Segerson was not injured.
