Conspiracy Charge

Police report that on May 23 they arrested Jessica Villafane-Klein, 26, of Milford on a warrant, lodging a charge of conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police said the charge stems from their investigation into the theft of infant formula from the Big Y supermarket on Queen Street last February. Sixth-degree larceny involves the theft of items worth less than $250.

Police released Villafane-Klein on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on June 8 to answer the charge.

 

House Break

On arriving home at their Great Ring Road residence about 11 pm May 22, its residents saw that a first story window had been broken, probably with a mailbox that had been taken from a neighboring property, police said. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact them at 426-5841.

SUV Vs Pedestrian

Police report an accident involving a pedestrian and a sport-utility vehicle about 6 pm May 7 on Schoolhouse Hill Road.

Motorist William White, 83, of 67 Elizabeth Circle was driving a 2002 Honda CRV eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road, as pedestrian Laura Lerman, 58, of 55 Main Street was walking westward there, police said.

As the Honda passed by Lerman, the passenger-side exterior mirror of the vehicle made contact with Lerman’s right shoulder, police said.

Police said White told them that it was a “tight squeeze” on the road due to an oncoming vehicle. Lerman refused medical treatment, police said.

Police said they verbally warned White for failure to exercise due care to avoid a pedestrian.

Hawleyville Accident

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the end of an Interstate 84 offramp at Exit 9 in Hawleyville about 4:25 pm May 20, police said.

Before the collision occurred, motorist Carl Neptune, 44, of Danbury, who was driving a 1990 Toyota pickup truck, was leaving the offramp, as motorist Joseph Hansen, 24, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy, was traveling northward on Hawleyville Road, police said.

Following the accident, ambulance crew members checked the condition of Hansen, and infant passenger Alexis Hansen, who is 5 months old, police said. Neither were injured, police said. Police issued Neptune an infraction ticket for a stop sign violation.

Riverside Road

Motorist Amanda Kenny, 18, of Southbury told police that while driving a 1994 Buick Century westward on Riverside Road, near Jo-Mar Drive, about 11:20 pm May 17, an eastbound minivan crossed the road’s center line and struck the Buick, police said. The minivan then left the accident scene, Kenny told police.

Kenny was not injured. Police investigated at the crash scene and believe the minivan may be a Ford Windstar with damage to its driver’s side. Police ask anyone with information on the accident to contact them at 270-8888.

Berkshire Accident

An accident occurred on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Zoar Road, about 1:48 pm May 11, police said. The accident involved motorist Gerard Grenier, 27, of Watertown, who was driving a 1989 Ford truck, and motorist John Viola, 59, of 7 Thunder Ridge Road, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet truck, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Grenier a written warning.

Four Vehicles

Police report a four-vehicle accident on Berkshire Road, at its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, about 2 pm May 14. All four vehicles were headed southward on Berkshire Road at the time.

Motorist Timothy Duffy, 18, of 3 Tanglewood Lane, who was driving a 1998 Pontiac minivan, was stopped for traffic, police said. A 2000 Saturn SL-2 driven by Meghan O’Day, 18, of 4 Bristle Lane, was stopped behind the Pontiac. Motorist Elizabeth Mark, 17, of 49 Church Hill Road, who was driving a 1997 Dodge Neon, was coming to a stop behind the Saturn, police said.

Motorist Rebecca Lukeris, 16, of 217 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 1991 Buick Regal, hit the rear end of the Dodge, pushing the Dodge into the rear end of the Saturn, pushing the Saturn into the rear end of the Pontiac, police said.

There were no injuries, police said. Police issued Lukeris an infraction ticket for following too closely.

Burglary

Police report they charged a 15-year-old person on May 23 with third degree burglary and second degree criminal trespassing. Details on the incident were not available. Because the person charged is under age 16, his/her identity is shielded from disclosure by state law. The burglary charge is a felony. The youth is scheduled to appear June 14 in Danbury Juvenile Court to answer the charges.

Collision

State police report a two-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 4:19 pm May 20.

Motorist Timothy Mueller, 16, of 7 Brandywine Lane, who was driving a 1998 Chrysler, stopped for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Ryan Stocking, 24, of Haddam, who was driving a 2001 Isuzu, police said. There were no injuries. State police said Stocking failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Exit 10 Crash

State police report a two-vehicle collision at the end of westbound Interstate 84’s Exit 10 offramp at about 4:40 pm May 19.

Motorist Lenore Alves, 39, of 10 Budd Drive, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet, stopped at a traffic signal at the end of the ramp and then rolled forward to see if the road was clear to travel, state police said.

Motorist Dorothea LaBelle, 83, of 24 West Street, who was driving a 1989 Toyota, then struck the Chevrolet from behind, state police said. There were no injuries. State police said LaBelle was following too closely and failed to carry a vehicle registration.

Currituck Collision

Police report a two-vehicle collision on Currituck Road about 3 pm May 23.

Motorist Michael Rosa, 22, of Newmarket, N.H., who was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry southward, started to make a left turn into a private driveway at 92 Currituck Road, police said.

While making the turn, the Toyota was involved in a collision with a northbound 1989 Ford pickup truck driven by Mark Domogala, 40, of Monroe, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Rosa a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Middle School Burglary

Police arrested two youths under age 16 in connection with a burglary about 8 pm on May 24 at Newtown Middle School at 11 Queen Street.

Police responded to a report of a person climbing into the school through a window, after which they found the two youths.

Police said the youths stole ice cream from the school cafeteria and also placed a teacher’s belongings in a toilet bowl.

Each of the two youths was charged with third degree burglary, sixth degree larceny, and criminal mischief. The burglary charge is a felony. Because the youths are under age 16, their identities are shielded from disclosure by state law.

Police released both youths for appearances in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Moving Violations

Police report they stopped motorist Kim John Capozziello, 39, of 1 Underhill Road on Elm Drive on the evening of May 24 because Capozziello was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police charged Capozziello with failure to wear a seatbelt, driving under suspension, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to have automotive insurance.

Capozziello was released on $200 bail for a June 10 court appearance.

 

X-Terra Vs Deer

Motorist Kirtus Westhaver, 42, of 20 Fieldstone Drive was driving a 2002 Nissan X-Terra southward on Boggs Hill Road on May 23, when a deer ran into the road and collided with the sport-utility vehicle, police said. Westhaver was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Ford Vs Jeep

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of South Main Street and Meadow Brook Road about 4:44 pm May 24, police said. The collision involved a 2000 Ford Escort driven by Usha Menon, 54, of Monroe, and a 1996 Jeep Cherokee driven by Marcela Jara, 40, of Fairfield, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Menon an infraction ticket for making an improper turn.

South Main Accident

Motorist Lynda Arnold, 41, of Gaylordsville, who was driving a 2003 Chrysler 300-M northward on South Main Street about 2:30 pm May 20, slowed for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Thomas Cervone, 46, of Stratford, who was driving a 2002 Ford van, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Cervone a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Rear-Ender

Motorist Scott Lavelle, 33, of 19 Crabapple Lane, who was driving a 1995 Mazda Millennia westward near 179 Berkshire Road about 6:30 am May 25, came to a stop for a standing school bus that had on its flashing lights, police said.

Westbound motorist Sharon Sprouse, 41, of East Haven, who was driving a 1988 Oldsmobile 98, then drove into the rear end of the Mazda, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Sprouse an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Motorcycle Accident

Motorist Jenna Wilkie, 17, of 23 Castle Meadow Road, who was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar minivan about 5:14 pm May 23, was making a left turn from a driveway at 30 Plumtrees Road, as motorcyclist David Farrell, 47, of Bethel, was driving a 2004 BMW K-1200 westward on Plumtrees Road, police said.

As the minivan turned in front of the motorcycle, the vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Wilkie a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at a private driveway.

Botsford Crash

Motorist Douglas Holcomb, 40, of 19 The Boulevard, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus, was stopped at a red traffic signal on northbound South Main Street at the intersection of South Main Street, Botsford Hill Road, and Meadow Brook Road at about 2:30 pm May 25, when he was hit from behind by motorist Pearl Galla, 80, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Galla a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and failure to carry a vehicle registration.

Warrant

Police report that on May 26 they arrested Harold Lepri, Jr, 17, of Oxford on a warrant listing charges of failure to respond to an infraction and simple trespassing. The trespassing charge stems from an incident early last year. Police released Lepri on $77 bail for a June 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant Executed

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Matthew Deluca, 17, of 2 Elm Drive turned himself over to police on May 27 and was charged with evading responsibility and with driving while under suspension in connection with a March 20 auto accident at the intersection of Queen Street and Church Hill Road, police said.

Police said they released Deluca on $100 bail for a June 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Drug Charges

After spotting Richard Pulver, 18, of 89 Poverty Hollow Road sitting on the curb outside Starbucks Coffee at 34 Church Hill Road on the evening of May 26, police said they served two outstanding arrest warrants against Pulver.

The charges listed in the two warrants are first degree failure to appear in court, second degree failure to appear in court, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. The charges stem from an incident last March, police said.

Police held Pulver on $5,000 bail overnight for an arraignment on the charges May 27 in Danbury Superior Court.
