Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run

On Church Hill Road, local Special Olympics Unified Sports athletes, wearing yellow shirts, joined Newtown police, Redding police, and Garner Correctional Institution staffers, all wearing dark shirts, on Friday, June 9, for part of the local leg of the 2017 Special OIympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Law enforcement runners entered Newtown near Dodgingtown Market on Route 302. The young athletes joined the runners for the section of the run between St Rose School and the Blue Colony Diner, where they were to hand off the torch to state police.
The Special Olympics is being held on June 9 through 11 in New Haven and Hamden.
