Assessor’s Office Has Tax Forms For The Aged And Disabled

Applications for state tax credit programs for the elderly and totally disabled are available in the assessor’s office at the Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street.

The filing period for the credits run until May 15. The programs are open to people who were 65 years old before December 2000, and totally disabled persons regardless of age if they are receiving 100 percent disability benefits under Social Security.

Claimants must own the property where tax relief is sought and live there as their principal or legal residence. Residency must be effective before October 1, 2000.

Maximum income limits are $24,500 for single people and $30,000 for married claimants.

The Assessor’s Office is open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm weekdays.

Anyone who is already a tax credit program beneficiary will receive an application by mail from the Assessor’s Office. For questions call the Assessor’s Office at 270-4240.
