Farewell To A Friend
Farewell To A Friend
To the Editor:
Iâm writing this letter for two reasons. Number one is to say goodbye to my friend Tim Dubee who passed away Saturday, May 29, at the age of 53. The second is to make sure that everyone who reads this takes the time to call and see their close friends and loved ones.
My regret was knowing how sick my friend was and âplanningâ to see him over Memorial Day weekend. Itâs a three-day weekend, Iâll surely see him on one of those days? Imagine my shock when a close friend of his called Saturday night, saying he just passed! Could it be true? I just spoke to Timâs mother that morning, saying he was in bed but doing ok.
Tim was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook who was enjoyed antique cars, boats, motorcycles, and his dogs: Angie, Buddy, and Amber. He was an intelligent man who was quick witted with a genuine good heart that always helped in anyway possible.
The past ten or so years had been extremely tough medically for the former State of Connecticut police officer. Danbury Hospital was a place that he unfortunately went to a number of times a year, in attempts to get him well. Daily living was a monumental challenge, but Tim did his best to stay positive. His mother Mary (really an angel) was responsible for the daily care that he desperately needed. He often remarked that he didnât know what he would do without her.
Tim, Iâm glad I got to know you well over the past five years. Iâll miss talking with you as you were a true friend in every sense of the word. Please forgive me for not getting to see you one last time.
