DeFeo Named President Of Juran Institute
WILTON â Joseph A. DeFeo of Newtown has been named President of Juran Institute, a world leader in pioneering advanced business solutions and training in Six Sigma quality standards for a wide variety of businesses. The Institute has improved the efficiency and quality for hundreds of companies in the United States and over 50 nations since it was founded more than 20 years ago.
A. Blanton Godfrey, chairman and CEO of the Institute, said, âWith Joe DeFeo as our new president, we have a team positioned in the Juran tradition to provide even greater capabilities and leadership in bringing the most advanced business solutions available to companies everywhere.â
As executive vice president of Juran Institute before his appointment, Mr DeFeo will continue in his role as chief operating officer to be responsible for strategic business operations and overseer of global business development. He is responsible for providing the Instituteâs clients with management solutions and organizational training that improves the efficiency and quality of virtually every operation performed by a company and its employees.
Mr DeFeo has over 15 years experience consulting with and educating top management and employees at a wide variety of companies to improve quality, business processes, and corporate culture. His assignments have involved aerospace, automotive, consumer, chemical and electronic products and processes, as well as secondary and higher education.
Mr DeFeo and his staff train and mentor employees of client companies at all levels, including top management, on production lines or in transactional processes of all kinds. Industry leaders in a wide range of disciplines, Juranâs staff develop a more comprehensive combination of management controls and quality improvement solutions than available from any other single source. One of these solutions is Six Sigma, an advanced quality initiative based on fundamentals developed by Dr Joseph M. Juran, founder of the Institute over 20 years ago. A statistical term, Six Sigma measures and is the discipline that can reduce product rejects and customer service mistakes to a near-perfection level as low as only 3.4 million operations or processes.
Mr DeFeo is a regular guest speaker at events for the Conference Board, various chapters of the American Society of Quality, and Juran Instituteâs Annual IMPRO Conference. He is the author of many management breakthrough articles in national and international media. One example is his definitive article âStrategic Deploymentâ in the 5th Edition of the Juran Quality Handbook, considered by many the most authoritative source on the methods for improving all forms of quality.
Mr DeFeo has served as an adjunct professor of Global Competitive Quality Management at Central College and holds an MBA from Western Connecticut State University.
In addition to its international headquarters in Wilton, the Institute has three other offices in Holland, Spain, and Canada.
