Occupation: I am a landscape designer. I own Brid Craddock Landscape Design, and Heirloom Gardens Nursery. Landscape design is the science of horticulture and art made large. It is form, texture, line and light, working with the aesthetic of architecture and land. Itâs really helping my clients get to the place where the expense is equal to the reward.
Family: My husband is Harvey Pessin. Our daughter, Katie, is 19 and a nursing student at Central Connecticut State College.
Pets: Bungee is our delightful Jack Russell terrier. He is 5 years old. Our cat is Wicked II; alas, Wicked I was run over. Wicked II is a giant, massive tabby that captures everyoneâs attention who comes into our house.
How long have you lived in Newtown? We have been here since 1999. We came here from Ridgefield.
What do you like to do in your free time? Travel is my preference in my free time. We like to go to museums, and we go to theater a lot. Of course, reading is a favorite pastime.
Do you have a favorite play? Maine is actually my favorite. We had never heard of it, then saw it at a New Milford theater. Itâs a bunch of vignettes about Maine, and is wonderful. We went on a Friday night, and that Sunday, I picked up The New York Times and found out it is the most produced play in the world. It was excellent.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? Lucca, in northern Italy, I would say. Iâve been there twice. I love the landscape, the food, the people, the language, and just everything about it.
What is the best thing about Newtown? I think the people. It really is âNicer in Newtown.â Weâre on that cusp between lower Fairfield County and rural Litchfield, and it makes for an interesting mix.
If you could spend the day with anyone, who would you pick? I would absolutely love to spend a day with Claude Monet, at Giverny. That would be amazing. It would be a magical mystery tour kind of thing. Ben Franklin would be a pretty interesting fellow to spend time with, too.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Make it work! Work with people, work with limitations and constraints. Donât worry about perfection!
Do you have a guilty pleasure? My Kindle. You can just read so widely. I love that thing, and I never thought I would.
