Choral Society Winter Concert Saturday Evening

Newtown Choral Society will be presenting Randall Thompson’s The Nativity According to St Luke as part of its winter concert, scheduled for Saturday, December 3, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown Meeting House. A musical drama in seven scenes, the piece is considered one of the composer’s finest works.

Under the direction of Mary Andreotta and accompanied by Susan Klein-Anthony, the choir will sing a program that will also include traditional songs of the season as well as “O Brilliante Estrella,” a holiday song from Puerto Rico; “African Noel,” a traditional African carol; and “Betelehemu,” a Nigerian Christmas song.

Now in its 25th year, the non-audition choir includes members from all area towns.

Tickets are $10, or $8 for seniors and children under 12, and are available at the door.
