‘American Military Forum:

 The Civil War, 1862’

BROOKFIELD — On Monday, September 10, at 7:30 pm, the Brookfield Museum and Historical Society, as part of its American Military Forum, will host a presentation given by Peter Cronin on the Civil War, featuring a review of the events that took place 150 years ago, in 1862.

In addition to Union Major General George McClellan’s failed Peninsular Campaign, the Second Battle of Bull Run and other significant events of the war’s second year, Mr Cronin will focus attention on the climactic battle at Antietam Creek, Maryland, in September 1862, which ended General Robert E. Lee’s first invasion of the North.

Mr Cronin is a former member of the historical society’s board of directors. He has given a number of lectures on the Civil War and other historical topics at the museum in the past.

The lecture is free, and will be followed by complimentary refreshments.

The historical society is at 165 Whisconier Road (Route 25 at 133) in Brookfield Center. For more information call 203-740-8140 or visit BrookfieldCTHistory.org.
