Snapshot: Carla Barzetti
Occupation: My businesses are Brilliant Soul, for energy healing, and All Calm Down, for guided healing meditation. I’ll be starting guided healing meditation Friday, December 5, at 9:30 am, at the Resiliency Center on South Main Street, and then on every first Friday. I’ve been an energy healer for a little over 13 years. I get to hear what keeps people from being blissfully happy, and do energy healing on multiple planes of existence. I also teach reiki classes, at my home. You can find out more about what I do at my websites, www.brilliantsoul.com or www.allcalmdown.com.
Family: I’ve been married to Dave Barzetti for eight years. We have a 7-year-old son, Johnny, and “Gradie” — Grace Diane (shown in photo) — will be 3 years old in December.
Pets: We have three dogs, all rescues. We have a trained Walker coon hound, named Betty Walker. Our beagle/border collie mix is named Dean, because he was found “On The Road.” People who are familiar with Jack Karouac will understand. Kato is named after the Peter Sellers movie. He’s a little cattle dog. We had chickens, turkeys, geese, and rabbits, but we decided to get rid of them recently. Our house is on the market, and when it sells we will be moving to a 65-acre farm in Tennessee.
How long have you been in Newtown? We’ve lived here for seven years. I lived in Sandy Hook before. It’s where I bought my first house.
What do you like to do in your free time? I do like to do healings, and I play with my kids. I used to hang glide, but I haven’t done that for a while. I like to read and I’m writing a couple of books — very, very slowly. The kids are my priority now.
Do you have a favorite author? I have so many! Hunter S. Thompson is my favorite fictional author. He reads like I think. I like Ernest Holmes, too, for nonfiction.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? I would like to go to Hawaii. I’ve never been there. I’d love to go to Fiji, too — islandy places.
What is the best thing about Newtown? The people are the best things. I’m highly impressed with the women and mothers, especially, in Newtown. They advocate so strongly for their children. I have very good friends here, and they will be the hardest to leave when we move.
Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My dad. He was a pilot, and one of those people who did whatever he thought he should do. He has lived his life like someone in a movie would, and that has definitely rubbed off on me. I don’t wait to do things. Sometimes, I have to hold the intention until it’s time for it to happen, though. Reading The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton, a cellular biologist, had a huge impact on my life, too.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Stay in the vibration of love.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? Probably shoes. I don’t need anymore, at all — particularly flip-flops!
