Janice Wonson Stratton
Janice Wonson Stratton, 87, a longtime resident of Stamford, died November 2, at home, with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., March 6, 1925, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Evelyn Wonson Butterworth of New Canaan. She was the wife of Arthur G. Stratton.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Betsy Kerr, and her husband David, of Newtown and Nancy Utter, and her husband Henry, of Arlington, Mass.; a son, Bill Stratton, and his wife Kerry, of Trumbull; ten grandchildren; and two sisters, Priscilla Butterworth of Greenfield, Mass., and Sally Mortimer of Stamford.
A graduate of the New York Fashion Institute of Technology, Mrs Stratton began her career at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. After marrying in 1956, she devoted the next 25 years to raising her three children.
She became a licensed realtor with Coldwell Banker in 1972 and maintained her license and stayed involved in the realty business until her death. Her remarkable spirit and positive outlook on life were an inspiration to all who knew her, especially her family.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, November 17, at 11 am, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 241 Courtland Avenue, Stamford. Reception to follow at the church.
