Stories Of Generosity

To the Editor:

I wish to thank everyone who donated to the 2011 Toys For Tots Program in Newtown. The United States Marine Corps Reserve Detachment of Ridgefield, who coordinated the collection and distribution of toys, is ever so grateful to our community.

The collection sites were especially helpful. They were: Coldwell Banker, Prudential Connecticut Realty, Dr Joshua E. Baum–orthodontic specialist, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Society of Plastics Engineers, Newtown Police Department, Children’s Adventure Center, Newtown Youth Academy, and Panera Bread.

The individuals, especially the young girl who asked her friends not to bring gifts for her on her birthday but rather give Toys For Tots instead, impressed the Marines. She is just one of many stories about generosity of people to this cause.
