Basic EMT, EMT Bridge Courses Offered At Hospital

DANBURY — Matthew G. Cassavechia, director of Danbury Hospital Emergency Medical Service, announces that a Basic Emergency Medical Technician/Emergency Medical Technician Bridge course will take place at the Danbury Hospital starting Tuesday, January 31.

The three-month course meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 11, and occasional Saturdays from 8 am to 4 pm. The Basic Emergency Medical Technician Course will meet in the back of the employee cafeteria located on the third floor, South Building.

Course participants, patients, and visitors must enter and exit Danbury Hospital through the Stroock Building Lobby located on the first floor at the Praxair Cancer Center. Parking is available in the Red Parking Garage using the Locust Avenue entrance.

Upon completion of the EMT-Basic course graduates will be qualified to take the National Registry exams to receive a Connecticut and National EMT-B certification.

Emergency Training Resources far exceeds the requirements for state and national EMS programs by providing students with more hands-on experience and follow-up with real world practice in the Emergency Department and on the ambulance with the hospital’s EMTs and paramedics.

Fee for the full course is $750, fee for the bridge course is $400, and payment must be submitted in full before the first week of the program. To qualify for the bridge course, students must possess a current State of Connecticut Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certificate.

Personal check, bank check, credit card, money order, or municipal purchase orders are accepted for tuition and supplies. Contact administrative assistant Raquel Rodriguez at 203-739-4916 for more course information.
