Marian L. Fortier, 84, of Botsford, died December 18, surrounded by family. She was born April 10, 1927, in Monroe, a daughter of Genevieve and Claude H. Lewis, and lived her whole life in Newtown.
Ms Fortier was a lifelong member of the Botsford Fire Rescue Company Ladiesâ Auxiliary. She was a member of the Stepney Baptist Church, and of the American Baptist Womenâs group there.
She was a part of the local Campfire Girls organization, and belonged to the Striders Drum Corps, a Newtown/Danbury marching band of the 1950s and 1960s.
Four children, Charlene Kolb of Botsford, Lynne Fortier of New Milford, Charles Forties of Asheville, N.C., and Marian Keller of Southbury; eight grand- and great-grandchildren; and her siblings Donny Lewis of Sandy Hook, Jeanette Perry of Florida, and Martha Didato of Orange, Conn., survive Ms Fortier. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul, and his wife Martha; two brothers; and her life companion Ralph Guedes.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, January 7, at 11 am, at Stepney Baptist Church, Route 25, in Monroe.
