Torpedoes’ Swimmers Compete In Championships

The Newtown Torpedoes’ 8 and under swimmers competed in the year-ending championships this past weekend.

The Newtown swimmers scored 409 points and finished in fourth place behind Watertown with 1,006 points, Bristol with 768, and West Haven with 663.

Swimmers Shayne Frate, Shayna Millard, Matthew Irving, Isaiah Williams, Rylee Harrell, and Richard Irving all qualified for the league all-star competition with top-three finishes.

The trials phase of championships for the 9 and older age groups was also held with the following swimmers qualifying for finals to be held next Saturday. Junior qualifiers include Amanda Berry, Julia DiMartino, Zoe Freedman, Tess Mubarek, Hana Rosenthal, Rachel Tramposch, Peter Fagerholm, Layton Harrell, Robert Morrill, and Xavier Williams.

Senior swimmer qualifiers are Caroline Beal, Bridget Duero, Casey Klein, Amanda Tramposch, Megan Milano, Jacob Branchflower, Devin Peterson, Conrad Reilly, Nikhil Trivedi, Annika Fagerholm, Aspen Kraushaar, Matthew Argraves, Seth Barrett, Matthew Hess, Alexander Klang, Doug Main, Anthony Vournazos.
