NEW YORK CITY, New York – Brian McGovern of Newtown, a senior at Fairfield Prep, continued an outstanding running career with a fifth-place finish in the High School Mile event at the recent Millrose Games in Madison Square Garden.

McGovern, who was fourth a year ago, came in at 4:21.0.

He then – under the auspices of Fairfield Prep – followed up that performance by finishing first in the 1,000 meters (2:38) at the Southern Connecticut Conference indoor track championships at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. McGovern also anchored the Jesuits’ winning sprint medley relay team.
