Wubbaworld.com vs McCann Brothers: Stinging the ball at bat for the Wubbaworld Hornetss were Juliette Cryder, Ryssa Swanson, Angela Carriero, and Grace Waller. Annie Fowler, Caroline Malin, and Erin Phaneuf made big plays in the field. McCann Brothers Blue Jays had another great game highlighted by a Nicole Fisher pitch being hit into play â the first hit of the season that wasnât pitched by a coach! Lola Villeneuve and Samantha Henriques also had strong outings on the mound. At the plate, Sarah Savinelli pounded some solid hits. In the field, Sarah Kick debuted at catcher and Lydia Shugrue and Victoria Stevens showed some slick fielding, including getting the lead runner out at third and covering first base when the first baseman fielded the hit.
Dr Beck vs Newtown Mobil: Cameron Powers and Emma Shanks pitched well. Margaret OâSullivan played a great game. Casey Sullivan did a good job at first base for Dr Beckâs sponsored team. Newtown Mobil had explosive hitting by Geneva Cunningham, Anna Burns, Amyla Posey, Madison Samoskevich and Kaitlyn King. The awesome defense was led by Brooke Argraves, Grace Eurell, Olivia Grant and Kathrine Maki. They really flashed the leather! Thank you all for a wonderful season!
Associated Refuse vs Taunton Press: In the final tilt of the season for the Associated Refuse Blue Thunder and Taunton Press Purple Penguins, both teams showed great improvement and effort on the Middle Gate field. The Blue Thunder were led by booming bats and stellar pitching of Meghan OâBrien, Megan OâRourke, Julia Gerace, and Camryn Griffin. Bridget Gogliettino, Rosie Baron, Joan Gogliettino, and Gloria Rowley had some sweet swings and played great defense to cap a great season on the diamond. In the final outing of the season for the Taunton Press Purple Penguins, there was great pitching by Ashley Silvaggi, Madeline Patrick, and Jagger Helfand. The scoring was provided by the big hits of Eliza Roth, Alea Willis, and Emily Hammond. Thank you for a great season girls.
U8 Division
Newtown Pools 10, Creative Mailing Services 8: Newtown Poolâs Emily Krasnickas scored two runs and struck out two players from the mound. Isabella Morganti had a big hit and scored a run. Nicki DePra and Sienna Cummings were both stellar in the field as well as the plate scoring two runs and four runs respectively. Samantha Black pitched a scoreless inning with a great play to first for an out and two strikeouts to secure the win. The Purple Platypus girls from Creative Mailing Services played a thrilling game. Lisa Price was sensational in the field, snagging three sharply hit balls and converting them into 3 unassissted outs. Jaclyn Moccio continued her torrid pace at the plate by going four for four and paced the offense along with Beth Savinelli, who was two for four and two RBIs. Catherine DiMaria (one hit) was stalwart again behind the plate and in the field.
Carminuccioâs Pizza 3, Newtown Pool 0: The girls from Carminuccioâs Pizza improved to 4-1. Both Cassidy Tran and Gabrielle Calbo were three for three and with a run scored. Nina Soriano also scored a run and was outstanding in her pitching debut for Carminuccioâs. Josie Hoover and Kimberly Buttery also pitched a scoreless inning to preserve the shutout. For the girls of Newtown Pools, Alexia Tavar and Isabella Morganti were outstanding in the field. Emily Krasnickas had a base hit before fracturing her wrist while running to get the helmets.
Carminuccioâs Pizza 5, Creative Mailing Service 3: In their season finale Carminuccioâs Pizza continued its winning streak with timely hitting and stellar defense. Cassidy Tran scored the first run when Gabrielle Calbo knocked her in with the first of her three hits for the game. Kimberly Buttery also added three hits. Ashley Solomon put in another magnificent outing on the pitching mound. Kendra Saunders made the play of the game when she caught a high popup with the bases loaded. Lindsay Dievert pitched the last inning and got the save. Jaclyn Moccio, went four for four at the plate, was strong on the mound and turned in a nifty inning-saving catch on a fly ball. Beth Savinelli pitched a solid inning in relief and has two hits and an RBI. Carly Swierbut was solid in the filed and was one for four at the plate. Victoria Weimann showcased a power bat with a double to center and an RBI while playing a sparkling third base to help keep the game close.
Creative Mailings 5, Newtown Pools 4: In their most exciting game of the season, the girls from Creative Mailing Services staged a fantastic comeback to beat the Newtown Pools by a score of 5-4. After being down 4-0 for most of the game, the Purple Platypusâs saved the best for last. With two outs in the bottom of the final inning, team Purple loaded the bases after hits from Lisa Price, Catherine DiMaria, and Carolyn OâKeefe. Hitting stars Anna Johnston drove in the game tying run to extend the game and Beth Savinelli delivered a clutch base hit to notch the game winning RBI. Nicki Depra was great at first base with two runs, phenomenal pitching from Heather Stroili and two runs, Samantha Black also hitting a double with two RBI and with Sienna Cummings striking out three in a row in the third inning.
U10 Division
Coalition Equipment 8, Wellbaskets.com 4: Coalition Equipment blasted out to an early 8-0 lead by getting many base hits throughout the lineup and two big bombs by Isabella Luciano drove in many RBI. The entire infield was able to make the outs at first many times to keep Wellbaskets team in check. Wellbaskets was able to score four runs late to get back in the game. For Wellbaskets, Tegan Doherty had three solid hits, Abby Clarke and Noel Carbone had two hits and one RBI each. Amanda Berry had two hits. Abby Clarke struck out the side in her inning on the mound. Coalition Equipment won the regular season out of the five-team division and now will be the number one seed in the playoffs. The girls won seven out of 12 games in the regular season.
Wellbaskets.com 1, Nuzzo Electric 0: There was outstanding fly ball catches by Tess Mubarek and Kiernan Kelly late in the game for Wellbaskets.com. The last at bat had solid hits to score the only run of the game by Tegan Doherty, Tess Mubarek, and Amanda berry. Pitching was the driving force in this game. All the girls on both sides played very well in the hot sun at Reed field and the hitters struggled at the plate with the blinding sun in their eyes. Nuzzo Electric left runners on third base three times to end three different innings, but Zoe Beals blistered through her three innings of pitching, not giving up a single hit.
