Multiple Warrants
Newtown police said that Milford police contacted them on June 2, informing them that Milford police had in their custody a man for whom Newtown police held two arrest warrants. Stratford police and state police also held separate warrants on the man.
Kenneth Wilkins, 43, of Stratford was wanted on a total of 16 charges stemming from the four warrants, Newtown police said.
Of those offenses, Newtown police wanted Wilkins on eight charges including failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, driving under suspension, failure to drive to the right, and others. The charges date back to 2002.
After posting $17,800 in bail, Wilkins was released for a June 15 court appearance, police said.
Thefts From Vehicles
During the early morning hours of June 4, someone entered an unspecified number of unlocked, parked motor vehicles in the area of Pole Bridge Road/Misty Vale Road in Sandy Hook and stole various items from within those vehicles, according to police.
Police ask anyone with information about the crimes to contact investigating Officer Bart Lorancaitis at 203-426-5841.
Sugar Street
Police report that motorist Sean Fahey, 16, of 2 Shepard Hill Road, who was driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander SUV on Sugar Street, near Elm Drive, about 3:20 pm on May 31, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Philippe Steimle, 56, of 53 Sugar Lane, who was driving a 1998 Ford Windstar minivan.
There were no injuries. Police said that Steimle failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Minivan Vs Sedan
Motorist Erin Nikitchyuk, 42, of 23 Bennetts Bridge was driving a 2010 Mazda M-3 sedan eastward near 32 Berkshire Road about 5:50 pm on June 1, when Nikitchyuk stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Mazda was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Glenn Reinhart, 50, of 10 Hoseye Coach Road, who was driving a 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned Reinhart for following too closely.
Four Violations
Police report they stopped motorist George Zucca, 67, of Old Saybrook about noon on May 31 on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with North Ridge Drive, because Zucca was illegally using a cellphone while driving.
After investigating, police charged Zucca with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving, misuse of marker plates, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.
After processing, police released Zucca on $200 bail for a June 15 court appearance.
School Bus MVA
School bus driver Elizabeth Parsons, 47, of 72 Currituck Road stopped a school bus, which was carrying 24 student passengers on the exit driveway at Newtown High School at about 2:17 pm on May 27, after which the bus was struck from behind by motorist Kristen Carino, 17, of 5 Stone Gate Drive, who was driving a 2001 Honda Accord sedan.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Hattertown Road Crash
Police said that driver Gilbert DeOliveira, 42, of 21 Split Rock Road was driving a commercial 2011 Ford F-550 truck southward near 5 Hattertown Road about 1:32 pm May 28, when a deer ran onto the road.
DeOliveira swerved to the left to avoid the animal, but the truck went off the northbound road shoulder and struck a rock, police said. DeOliveira was not injured. Police said they issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
Honda Vs Mazda
About 2:43 pm on May 28, motorist Elaine Johnson, 44, of Branford, who was driving a 1990 Mazda MXS convertible northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Appleblossom Lane, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Mazda was struck from behind by northbound motorist William Allen, 17, of 1 Taunton Lake Road, who was driving a 2000 Honda Accord sedan, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Allen a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

South Main Collision
Motorist Christopher Elias, 21, of 11 Pebble Road was driving a 2007 Subaru Impreza sedan northward near 84 South Main Street on May 31, when he stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist William Evans, 43, of Southbury, who was driving a 1994 Lincoln Mark-VIII coupe, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Simm Lane
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Simm Lane and South Main Street about 4 pm May 31.
Motorist Scott Janco, 51, of Monroe, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, was attempting to make a left turn from westbound Simm Lane onto southbound South Main Street, as motorist Terrence Farrell, 42, of 14 Alpine Circle, who was driving a 2002 Subaru Forester, was attempting to make a left turn from southbound South Main Street onto eastbound Simm Lane, police said.
The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they gave Janco a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Burglary/Larceny
Sometime between 9:30 am and 8 pm on June 2, someone forcibly entered a Riverside Road house and stole unspecified personal belongings from the premises, police said. The home is on the section of Riverside Road lying between its intersections with Timber Mill Road and Bancroft Road. Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information about it to contact them at 203-426-5841.
DUI Arrest
Police received a call about 11:05 pm on June 4 to investigate a motor vehicle accident that had occurred near the intersection of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Shepaug Road.
In the incident, an unspecified vehicle collided with a tree. Police said that when they arrived at the accident scene, the driver of the vehicle was not there.
Based on information obtained in their investigation, police located that driver in another vehicle, which they stopped on Church Hill Road.
Police report they arrested the driver on charges of driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to drive to the right on a curve. The driver was not injured in the accident, police said.
Police released the driver on $100 bail for a June 27 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Because the person arrested is under age 18, the driverâs identity is shielded from public disclosure by state law.
Pharmacy Incident
About 2:30 pm on June 2, police received a call from the CVS Pharmacy at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street reporting that a person suspected of theft at the store was in custody there.
Police said they went to the store and investigated, after which they charged Christine Young, 25, of Torrington with sixth-degree larceny.
After processing, police released Young on $100 bail for a June 15 court appearance.
Currituck Road
Motorist Scott Burns, 45, of 20 Parmalee Hill Road was driving a 2008 Toyota RAV-4 SUV southward near 7 Currituck Road about 5:20 am June 2, when a deer ran onto the street, resulting in a collision, according to police. Burns was not injured.
SUV Damaged
Police are investigating an incident in which a motorist driving a vehicle, possibly a green Jeep-brand vehicle, damaged a 2008 Toyota RAV-4 SUV in a collision in the parking a lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 9 pm on June 1, and then drove away from the scene of the crash.
The Jeep likely has heavy damage on its driverâs side, police said. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Exit 10 Crash
State police report an accident on the westbound Exit 10 off-ramp of Interstate 84 about 3 pm on June 4.
Motorist Lawrence Andres, 72, of Bellingham, Wash., was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt on the ramp when he lost control of the vehicle and struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, state police said. Andrews was not injured. Enforcement information was not available.
Philo Curtis Road
Police report a two-vehicle accident on Philo Curtis Road at its intersection with the Treadwell Park driveway about 8 pm on June 2.
The accident involved motorist Michael Cosmedy, 22, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Chrysler Sebring, and motorist Jeffrey DiNicola, 19, of 13 Bristle Lane, who was driving a 1999 Saab 9-3 coupe, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Cosmedy for making an improper turn.
