*After selling out a May 12 date at Mohegan Sun Arena last Saturday and a performance at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles Sunday night, THE BEACH BOYS’s 50th Anniversary Tour has added a second show at Mohegan Sun. The band will get around to a second show on Sunday, May 13, and tickets (still $55 and $75, same as the first show) go on sale Friday morning (February 24) through TicketMaster online, TicketMaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number (800-745-3000), and TicketMaster outlets.

If they don’t sell out again within 24 hours, tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun box office starting Saturday, February 25.

*BLINK-182 with special guests The All-American Rejects and Le Blorr will hit Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, May 18, and those tickets will be on sale this weekend as well.

Tickets are $49.50 and $69.50 (TicketMaster online, phone, etc), and you really want to make a mental note that the floor will be general admission standing if you’re thinking about those tickets. There will not be any chairs on the floor.

*Tickets will also be on sale Friday morning for DAUGHTRY at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods, booked for April 28. Tickets for the show in Mashantucket have been set at $75 to $95, and will be available through www.Foxwoods.com, by calling the MGM Grand Box Office at 866-646-0609 or Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000, or in person at the MGM Grand Box Office.

*Meanwhile, tickets have already been put on sale for THE FRAY, who will bring their North American tour to support new album Scars & Stories to Foxwoods Resort Casino on Saturday, April 14.

Tickets for the show — also at the MGM Grand Theater — are $35 to $55, and available through the same options as above (www.foxwoods.com, by calling the MGM Grand Box Office or Ticketmaster, or in person at the theater’s box office).

*Following a pre-Valentine’s Day show in Southbury, BOPLICITY will bring its show back to Newtown on Sunday, March 3.

The jazz band — Gregg Baimel on tenor saxophone and clarinet; Paul Fadus on trumpet, Warren McGuire on guitar, Michael Paes on bass, Bob Paquette on drums, and Robert Rabinowitz on flute and alto saxophone — performs everything from Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and Herbie Hancock to Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and countless others, covering cool jazz, hot jazz, be-bop, big band, blues, funk, fusion, latin, rock, and even swing.

Showtime next weekend will be 9 pm, and there is no charge for the show.

And, as an extra special treat, for the first time ever, Robert tells me Boplicity plans to break out “The Wheel of Jazz,” where songs, and who solos on those songs, will be picked randomly by spinning a wheel. This will add a flavor of improvisation not only to the songs but the song and soloist choices.

If you’d like to sample some of the band’s music (or if you’d like a recap if you have seen them recently), visit www.reverbnation.com/boplicityjazzband.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
