Annual Horse Guard Fund-Raising Show Is July 19

The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard will host its annual fund-raising Horse Show at the 2GHG facility at Fairfield Hills on Sunday, July 19, beginning at 8 am.

Participants must contact Show Secretary Naomi Gauruder at 650-3148, and entries may be downloaded at bhcmanagement.com. The Connecticut Horse Shows Association and the Connecticut Hunter and Jumper Association recognize the 2GHG Horse Show. Proof of current Coggins and Rabies vaccinations is required and will be checked upon arrival.

English, Western, Hunt, Pleasure, Lead line and Driving Classes are available. There will be a food vendor and a tag sale featuring tack equipment. Spectators are welcome, and should not contact Naomi Gauruder; please contact 2GHG directly at publicaffairs@thehorseguard.org.

Riders from all over New England will perform in more than 70 classes in two show rings.

At the end of the day, 2GHG will present the Governor’s Cup to the highest scoring Adult Amateur Hunter or Modified Adult Amateur Hunter; the Adjutant General’s Perpetual Trophy to the highest scoring Children’s Hunter, and the Town of Newtown Perpetual Trophy to the highest scoring Short Stirrup Rider.

The Horse Show is a fund-raising event. A 100 percent volunteer, non-profit organization, 2GHG has been serving the citizenry of Connecticut since 1808. 2GHG Troopers participate in ceremonial events at the order of either the Governor or the Adjutant General. 2GHG Non-Profit 501(c) 3 Association will also host an Open House on September 13 and a fund-raising trail ride for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on November 1. 2GHG appreciates and depends on the support of Horse Show participants and spectators.

For more information, contact Show Manager, 2LT Jennifer Mazzara at 241-3461. Information is also available at thehorseguard.org.

The Troopers and mounts of the 2GHG remain, as always, “Ready to Serve.”
