Susan Fund Scholarship Award Applications Now Available

The Susan Fund, a Fairfield County-based scholarship program for cancer survivors who wish to pursue higher educations, has begun the 2012 application process.

The fund is available for students who are Fairfield County residents, have been diagnosed with cancer at some time in their lives, and are planning to attend an accredited college or training program.

The awards are based on academic achievements, financial need, and community involvement.

The Susan Fund has awarded scholarships to local students for more than 31 years. The fund was established in memory of Susan Davis Lloyd, a teenager from Westport whose dream was to attend college despite her cancer diagnosis and treatments.

The Susan Fund provides financial and emotional support to those students facing the staggering medical costs associated with cancer treatment as well as the ever-increasing cost of higher education. Since its inception, The Susan Fund has distributed more than $1 million in scholarship money.
