Winter Guard Home Show Slated For Saturday
Newtown High School will host 27 Winter Guards ranging in age from intermediate school age to college competitors from across New England and the Mid-Atlantic this Saturday in the Annual Winter Extravaganza.
Beginning at 3 pm, Newtownâs Home Show will feature a performance by the renowned Park City Pride Drum and Bugle Corp, and is also an opportunity for the four graduating seniors on Newtownâs Varsity Winter Guard to be recognized for their years of excellence in performance.
Newtownâs Winter Extravaganza is traditionally one of the largest and most popular competitions in the Musical Arts Conference (MAC) series.
Freshly prepared foods will be sold by guard parents in the cafeteria. This yearâs menu will include pulled pork sandwiches, baked ziti and meatballs, kielbasa with sauerkraut grinders, taquitos with salsa, mozzarella sticks and French fries with cheese and chili.
All three Newtown Winter Guard divisions will perform in exhibition at the event. The Junior division from Reed Intermediate School, and the Newtown High School Varsity division, remain undefeated in MAC competition this season. The Junior Varsity is in a tight battle with rival Cheshire High School, who edged Newtownâs Junior Varsity out of first place last week by a narrow 1.1 points.
Admission to the Winter Extravaganza show is $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.
