Butler

Former Nursing Supervisor At

Griffin Hospital

Josephine M. Butler, 69, lifelong resident of Derby, died March 26 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was born in Derby, October 27, 1942, daughter of Peter and Josephine Barbieri DiDonato. She was the loving wife of James R. Butler.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by three children, including Janice M. Butler of Newtown, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph.

Ms Butler was a proud graduate of St Francis School of Nursing in Hartford and later earned her bachelor’s degree then master’s degree in public health, both from Southern Connecticut State University. She was employed as a registered nurse at Griffin Hospital and retired as nursing supervisor.

She was a member and past president of Paugassett Hose Ladies Auxiliary in Derby and member of the former East Side Italian American Club, also in Derby. Ms Butler enjoyed knitting, reading, puzzles and, above all, spending time with her family.

Funeral services took place March 29. Interment was in Mount St Peter Cemetery in Derby.
