Veterans of the United States Armed Forces are invited to be the honored guests at the Newtown High School football game on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, when the Nighthawks take on the Brookfield Bobcats.fundraise.fisherhouse.org/proudsupporterevents/Fundraising/individual/38173356.

Admission is free for attending veterans. Pregame activities will begin at 6:15 pm, and the kickoff will take place at 7 pm.

Veterans who wish to stand alongside the NHS team during the playing of the National Anthem may register by emailing buccim@newtown.k12.ct.us by noon on Friday, November 11.

T-shirts will also be sold at the game to raise money for the Fisher House Foundation, a charity that helps service members, veterans, and their families. Money toward the NHS effort to support the Fisher House Foundation may also be donated online at

All profits from the purchase the "Newtown Nighthawks Support the United States Armed Forces" T-shirts will go to the foundation.

Marlene Bucci, Susy Roe, Matthew Memoli, and Steve George are organizing the event.

Bucci noted that this is the first time a Nighthawk football game will raise money for the Fisher House Foundation. She also said the group was inspired to help the Fisher House Foundation because the game is on Veterans Day.

Regular admission for games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Admission will be free for veterans only for November 11, game.
