Drug Take-Back Day Planned For April 28
Drug Take-Back Day
Planned For April 28
Town police and the Newtown Prevention Council will conduct the annual Drug Take-Back Day from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 28, at the police station at 3 Main Street (Route 25).
The event will allow people to properly dispose of unwanted and unneeded prescription medications.
Police ask that residents check their medicine cabinets to find unwanted and unneeded drugs that are suitable for disposal at the event.
In the past, authorities had recommended that people dispose of drugs by either flushing them down toilets or by throwing them into the garbage. But such disposal methods could lead to pollution problems.
Police and the council are holding the drug collection project in cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Besides disposing of drugs on Drug Take-Back Day, the police station lobby holds a suitable receptacle that is available to the public for drug disposal seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
