Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue Company will launch its annual Christmas Tree Sales fundraiser today, offering fresh-cut Balsam and Fraser firs, pine roping, kissing balls, cemetery boxes and more.

Firefighters, with help from family and friends, will be unloading 800 trees from Vermont that morning and begin selling them around noon.

The fundraising event will continue until 9 pm today. Regular hours will then be 9 am to 9 pm on weekends, 6 to 9 pm Monday through Thursday (earlier by chance), and 3 to 9 pm on Fridays, through December 23.

Proceeds will benefit the fire company, which continues to celebrate its 80th anniversary year.

On Sunday, December 2, Sandy Hook will welcome for the third year firefighters from Tolland, who will again offer residents free rides in an antique sleigh. The rides are free; donations will be accepted and will also benefit the fire company. Light refreshments will be served.

For additional information, call 203-270-4392 or visit [naviga:u]SandyHookFire.com[/naviga:u].

Santa and his sleigh — a Tolland Fire Department truck, shown above, during last year’s visit — will be back that day, offering rides from 2 to 8 pm.   (Bee file photo)</p>
