Newtown High School Girls' And Boys' Track And Field Teams Off To Winning Starts
Newtown High School's girls' and boys' outdoor track and field squads both earned a pair of victories over Pomperaug of Southbury and Bethel on April 18 and 19, respectively - the girls in Southbury and the boys at home. Javelin: Grant Untiedt threw 135 feet and 8 inches and qualified for SWC championships. Ryan Williams threw 123 feet and 7 inches. Chris Blanco threw 123 feet and 3 inches.
Shot-put: Jack Godfrey threw 48 feet and 4 inches and qualified for Class LL. Ben Mason threw 42 feet and qualified for SWC championships. Seth Willis threw 35 feet and five inches.
