John Wlasuk, 14, of Newtown (pictured left) won a gold medal in the shot put and javelin during Nutmeg Games competition at Danbury High School last week. Wlasuk won Gold with his toss of 31-8.5 in the shot and 112-6 in the javelin.

Meanwhile, Theodore Silverman of Sandy Hook took second in the 100- and 200-meter dashes in the 10-and-under age group, finishing at 18.62 in the 100 and 44.54 in the 200.
Mark Silverman of Sandy Hook also took second in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, but in the 30-39 age group and with times of 12.07 in the 100 and 24.25 in the 200.
