Shriners Plan Field Days
MILFORD â Shriners from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and New Foundland will visit the Milford area this September as Pyramid Shriners host the Northeast Field Days.
The highlight of the September 20 to 22 visit will be a grand parade through Milford on Saturday, Sept. 22, which steps off at 1 pm at Sherman Lane, continues into downtown Milford past the green, and ends at the Parsons Complex.
On Saturday morning Shrine Oriental Bands, Pipes and Drum Units, and Motorized units from each of the Northeastâs 15 Shrine groups will hold competitions. On Friday, from 2 to 4 pm, clowns from all the Shrine Temples will hold a skit competition and face painting at Milford Post Mall. As with the parade, the public is cordially invited to attend and welcome our visitors.
Shriners support 23 childrenâs hospitals in the US, Canada, and Mexico that offer free medical care for orthopedics and burns. The Shrine nationally spends some $1.4 million each day in these efforts. In having fun with parades and other activities, Shriners work to raise money to keep this worldâs greatest philanthropy going, as it has for over 75 years.
