Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra Plans To Re-Live Five Decades Of Pop Hits
RIDGEFIELD â The Ridgefield Chorale will celebrate five decades of pop hits from all music genres in its spring concert on Saturday, April 26. Featured scores will include âForever Motown,â âBeatles in Revue,â âJohn Denver: A Legacy of Song,â âA New Day Has Come,â âBridge Over Troubled Water,â âJambalaya,â âAngel,â and many other fun surprises.
Chorale director Daniela Sikora is an accomplished vocalist and musician with an extensive experience as a professional performer, composer/arranger, and producer of musical events. She has fashioned a fabulous ensemble of musicians and vocalists that complement the choraleâs four-part harmony.
Accompanist Gina Wilson is also the accompanist for St Stephenâs Childrenâs Choir and was one of the driving forces behind the creation of Ridgefield Youth Orchestra in conjunction with Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra.
The Ridgefield Swing Band will add a dynamic string, rhythm and percussion section to the eveningâs performance, and special guest Wendy Cahill of Bethel, the lead singer of local band Sans Cherubs, will be the guest soloist on the performance of âOperator.â
During these difficult times, audience members will appreciate the positive energy projected by Ms Sikora, the chorale, and the live instrumental ensemble. When asked how audience members will relate to the song selections for the spring concert, Ms Sikora challenged: âWhen listening to the radio, there are certain songs to which you turn the volume way up so you can sing along. They are instantly recognizable and you know [practically] every word. This concert is made up of those songs. We dare you to sit still for this one!â
The performance will begin at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors and students. Children ages 5 and under will be admitted free of charge. Tickets may be purchased from a Chorale member, or at the door the night of the show.
