Teamsters Win Baseball Finale

The Teamsters Local Union 1150 baseball team won the 14-15 year old title with a 3-0 win over Rich’s Keys and Locks in the championship game this past week.

In the first inning, Rich’s Keys and Locks got things started with a single but ultimately left a runner stranded at third base. Luke Rustici got the next batter to fly out to end the inning. It stayed scoreless until the third inning

For the Teamsters. Malcolm Dance got a hit to center then stole second, Holden Turk flied out for the first out and the MVP of the game Jeff Peterson hit a shot to deep center field to score Dance from second base for the difference-making run. After a strike out Rich’s Keys and Locks walked Tim Vander Have and Matt Elias. Vander Have and Peterson scored on fielding errors for a 3-0 lead.

Teamsters Local Union 1150 was led on the mound by Rustici with three innings pitched, Steven Brittin with three innings pitched, and Mason Melillo who pitched the last inning for the save.

The Teamsters were led all season long with great hitting. Melillo, Greg Grasso, and Chris Calo all had 20 hits, and Matt Elias had 19. Tim Vander Have led the team in runs scored (18). Andy Braun led the team in runs batted in (34). Rustici and Stephen Brittin led the team in wins. Alex Klang, Turk, and Dance had key hits all season. Jack Lago, captain of the team, led in fielding percentage and base stealing. Shawn Cerreta and Aidan Petershack played great defense.
