Lindsay Beck of Newtown has been named to the Commendable Scholar list for the fall 2007 semester at Mitchell College in New London. Commendable Scholars are those who achieve a grade point average between 3.0 and 3.49 for the semester.
Canterbury School in New Milford has named Newtown resident Briana Berg to the second marking period High Honor Roll.
Justin Michael Carotti of Newtown has been named to the Deanâs List for the fall of 2007 at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Justin is a freshman majoring in social work.
Katie DeSimone, daughter of Rose DeSimone of Newtown and Robert DeSimone, San Antonio, Texas., made Deans List for the winter 2007 term at Johnson & Wales University, R.I., with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She is in the bachelor degree program for food service management.
Tufts University School of Engineering has placed Carolyn L. Filler on its Deansâ List for maintaining an honor average during the fall 2007 academic term. Carolyn is a freshman at the Medford, Mass., university and a daughter of Joy and Mike Filler of Newtown.
Victoria Filler, a senior at Colgate University, has earned Deanâs Award for academic excellence for the fall 2007 term. Victoria, a daughter of Joy and Mike Filler of Newtown, is majoring in psychology.
Endicott College announced that Newtown resident Brittany Lindenmeyer was named to the Deanâs List at the Beverly, Mass., school.
Sandy Hook resident Christina Matz was named to the Honors List for the fall semester at Saint Josephâs College in Standish, Maine.
Syracuse Universityâs College of Visual and Performing Arts has named Sean William OâConnell to its fall 2007 Deanâs List.
Olga Virgalla was named to the Deanâs List at Keene State College, in Keene, N.H. for the 2007 fall semester. Olga graduated from Newtown High School in 2007 and is majoring in communications.
Central Connecticut State University recently named Newtown residents Ryan Kelley and Sonja Taylor to the Deanâs List. Also named were Sandy Hook residents Andrea Minor and Rory Morrissey.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, N.Y., has announced the names of students who made the schoolâs Deanâs List for the fall 2007 semester, and the following students are included: Thomas M. Cruson of Newtown, a sophomore majoring in physics; Brett L. Eastman, also of Newtown, a senior majoring in materials engineering; Travis C. Hunter of Sandy Hook, a sophomore (undeclared/engineering); and Adam I. Moskowitz of Newtown, a senior, who is majoring in computer science.
The University of Scranton, a Jesuit university in northeastern Pennsylvania, has announced its Deanâs List recognizing students for academic excellence during the 2007 fall semester. A total of 1,179 students were names to the Deanâs List, including Kelley E. Fitzgerald and Alexa A. Vacaro, both of Newtown.
