Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, George Tammany, 65, of Brewster, N.Y., went to the police station on the afternoon of May 10 and was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said.
Police said the arrest stems from their investigation into a complaint that Tammany had failed to pay a fee for the towing of a motor vehicle.
After processing, police released Tammany on a written promise to appear on May 18 in Danbury Superior Court.
Wasserman Way
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Wasserman Way and the Exit 11 ramps for Interstate 84 at about 1:30 pm on April 26.
Motorist Erin Nikitchyuck, 41, of 23 Bennetts Bridge Road was driving a 2010 Mazda M-3 sedan westward on Wasserman Way and then stopped at the traffic signals at that roadâs intersection with the ramps, police said.
Westbound motorist Sarah Lemien, 18, of 9 Philo Curtis Road, who was driving a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, then struck the rear end of the Mazda, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said that Lemien failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Intersection Accident
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the hazardous intersection of Berkshire Road (Route 34) and Old Mill Road about 11:20 am May 6, according to police.
The collision involved motorist Maureen Reidy, 55, of Danbury, who was driving a 2008 Saturn Outlook SUV, and motorist Constance Seibold, 71, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1999 Honda Civic sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Reidy a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Botsford Hill Road
Police report that motorist Ronald Martensen, 65, of 14 Clearview Drive, who was driving a 2010 Toyota RAV-4 westward near 2 Botsford Hill Road at about 6:40 am on May 6, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by westbound motorist Geraldine Keayes, 35, of 40 Bear Hills Road, who was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty.
Police said they verbally warned Keayes for following too closely.
Hyundai Vs Honda
Motorist Robert Boothby, 80, of Wayne, Maine, who was driving a 2008 Hyundai Sonata sedan westward on Church Hill Road at about 3:15 pm May 7, stopped in preparing to make a left turn into the driveway for the Blue Colony Diner, police report.
The driver of an unspecified noncontact vehicle then stopped in the left lane of two eastbound lanes to allow the Hyundai to make that turn, police said.
However, at that time, motorist Tracy Fanelli, 50, of Oxford was driving a 2004 Honda CRV in the right lane of the two eastbound lanes, according to police.
Fanelli was unaware that Boothby was attempting to make the left turn, after which the Hyundai and the Honda collided, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Boothby a written warning for failure to grant the right of way. Police gave Fanelli a written warning for driving without a license.
Sandy Hook Accident
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Wasserman Way about 7 am on May 5.
Motorist Maria Cuesta, 37, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Toyota sedan eastward on Wasserman Way, slowed in order to make a right turn onto Berkshire Road, according to a police report.
Eastbound motorist Amarjeet Kaur, 35, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Jeep SUV directly behind the Toyota and who also was making a right turn, then struck the Toyota from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Kaur a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police said they gave Cuesta an infraction for a driverâs license violation.
Queen Street
About 4:45 pm on May 8, motorist Marilyn Glover, 54, of West Hartford, who was driving a 2009 BMW 328-XI sedan northward near 6 Queen Street, struck the rear end of a stopped northbound 2007 Saturn Ion sedan driven by Renee Tassone, 49, of Herndon, Virginia, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they gave Glover a written warning for following too closely.
Sawmill Ridge Road
While driving a tractor-trailer truck northward on Sawmill Ridge Road about 9:40 am May 14, a frontal piece on the truck driven by Antonio Santos, 33, of Danbury collided with a curbside mailbox at 6 Sawmill Ridge Road, police said. Santos received a verbal warning for making a restricted turn, according to police.
Toddy Hill
Police said that they stopped motorist Brenda Kunin, 53, of Woodbury at about 12:48 am on May 17 for exceeding the speed limit while driving a 2008 Honda northward on Toddy Hill Road.
After investigating, police charged Kunin with speeding and with driving with a suspended license. Police released Kunin on a written promise to appear in court on June 2.
Motorcyclist Charged
Police report they received a complaint concerning erratic driving by motorcyclists on South Main Street, so they went to the area about 3 pm May 16 to investigate.
Police said they stopped several motorcyclists near 71 South Main Street. After investigating, police said they learned that motorcyclist Aristides DaSilva, 31, of Bridgeport was driving a Suzuki GSRX-600 that displayed a marker plate that belonged on another vehicle.
Police charged DaSilva with misuse of a motor vehicle registration and with driving with a suspended license. DaSilva posted $250 bail for a June 1 court appearance.
DUI Arrest
Police report that at about 2:30 am on May 15, they spotted motorist Catherine Stickles, 22, of 67 Mt Pleasant Road driving a 2003 Mazda pickup truck northward on South Main Street and crossing over the roadâs center line, so they decided to stop her to investigate.
Police said Stickles failed to stop promptly and then drove past a vehicle that was stopped at a red traffic signal at the intersection of South Main Street, Sugar Street, Main Street, and Glover Avenue.
Police said they stopped Stickles near 19 Main Street, after which they gave her field sobriety tests.
Police said they charged Stickles with driving under the influence, interfering with police, failure to obey a police officerâs signal to stop, failure to keep to the right, failure to obey a traffic signal, and improper passing.
After processing, police released Stickles on $400 bail for a June 2 court appearance.
Mailbox Damage
Police report three incidents of curbside mailbox damage.
Sometime between 7:30 pm on May 9, and 4:20 pm on May 10, someone vandalized a mailbox at 10 Charter Ridge Drive.
Also, at about noon on May 10, someone vandalized a mailbox at 11 Jeremiah Road, using some type of fireworks device to do so.
Police ask anyone with information about either incident to contact Officer John McDermott at the police station.
In a separate incident, at about 2 am on May 9, someone who was driving an unknown motor vehicle backed into a stand that held 11 curbside residential mailboxes at the intersection of Riverside Road and Laurel Trail, police said. The motorist then drove away. Officer William Hull is investigating and seeks information from the public on who caused the damage.
DUI Case
Police said they saw motorist Melissa Bridge, 24, of Cos Cob parked on the road shoulder on Wasserman Way at about 1:41 am on May 15 with the unspecified vehicleâs engine running, so they stopped to investigate.
Police said they charged Bridge with driving under the influence and with failure to renew a driverâs license. After processing, Bridge was released on $100 bail for a June 1 court appearance.
Huntingtown Road
Police report that at about 6:45 pm on May 11, they spotted motorist Mary Pearson, 43, of 25 Maltbie Road driving an unspecified vehicle fast near 38 Huntingtown Road, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police said they charged Pearson with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license.
Police released her on $100 bail for a May 18 court appearance.
Turkey Vs Toyota
Motorist Charles Ekstrom, 43, of Monroe was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan eastward on Berkshire Road, near Zoar Road, about 5:45 am on May 13, when a turkey flew across the road and collided with the left side of the auto, police said. Ekstrom was not injured, police said.
Four-Way Intersection
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Church Hill Road, Glen Road, Riverside Road, and Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook Center about 5 pm May 10.
Motorist Susan Hughes, 62, of 115 Taunton Hill Road, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Passat station wagon, was waiting at a red traffic signal on eastbound Church Hill Road at the intersection, when eastbound motorist Syed Ahmed, 23, of 26 Whitewood Road, who was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant sedan, struck the rear end of the Volkswagen, police said.
There were no injuries. Ahmed received an infraction for following too closely, police report.
Currituck Road
About 2:49 pm on May 4, motorist Maria Pinto, 58, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Mazda Tribute SUV westward on Currituck Road, near its intersection with Butterfield Road, crossed over Currituck Roadâs center line, resulting in the Mazdaâs left exterior rear-view mirror colliding with the left exterior rear-view mirror of an eastward 1997 Chevrolet Blazer SUV driven by Rosa Sanchez Cruz, 38, of Woodbury, police report.
There were no injuries. Pinto received an infraction for failure to drive to the right, police report. Cruz got an infraction for driving without a license, according to police.
Watch Missing
A woman has reported to police that her watch is missing. It is described as a Michele-brand silver watch, which has diamond elements on its face. The watch was lost on May 4.
It may have been lost at the Big Y supermarket at 6 Queen Street, police said. On that day, the woman also may have lost the watch at the Fairfield Hills campus, including the Newtown Youth Academy and the town clerkâs office at the Municipal Center. Police ask anyone with information about the missing watch to contact Officer Steve Borges at the police station.
Rear-Ender
About 6:23 pm on May 12, motorist Patricia Osborn, 53, of Southbury, who was driving a 2008 Honda Accord sedan northward near 151 South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was hit from behind by northbound motorist Christopher Veness, 22, of 3 Prospect Terrace, who was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Veness for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Swamp Road
Motorist Nicole Krause, 24, of 5-A High Bridge Road was driving a 1996 Plymouth Neon sedan westward near 39 Swamp Road about 11:49 pm May 12 in foggy conditions, when she encountered a left curve in the road and did not react in time, police said.
The Plymouth then went off the roadâs right shoulder, traveled into a ditch and struck a tree, police said.
Krause did not complain of injury, but because the vehicleâs airbag had deployed, ambulance volunteers went to the scene to check her as a medical precaution, police said.
Krause was not transported by ambulance, according to police. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident.
Police verbally warned Krause for making a restricted turn.
South Main Accident
Motorist James Collier, 28, of Smoke Rise Ridge, who was driving a 2003 Dodge truck northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Prospect Drive, at about 4 pm May 13, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by northbound motorist Neil Alfredson, 47, of Sherman, who was driving a driving 2003 Saturn sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Alfredson a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Drug Charge
Police report that at about 10:30 pm on May 14, they stopped a vehicle for an investigation on Washington Avenue, near its intersection with Pearl Street.
Police said they charged a passenger in that vehicle with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. Because the person arrested in under age 16, their identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.
Police said the youth is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court on June 3 to answer the charge.
Highway Incident
State police report that Kelly Rayner, 27, of Mansfield was involved in a motor vehicle accident about 9 pm May 15 on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 11.
During their investigation of the accident, unspecified narcotics were found in Raynerâs possession, state police said.
State police charged her with illegal possession of a controlled substance and also with illegal possession of a controlled substance outside of its original prescription container.
Rayner was scheduled to appear in court on the charges.
I-84 DUI
State police report they had received many 911 calls regarding a vehicle that had gone onto the median of westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 12:36 am on May 14, so they went to the area to investigate.
State police said they located motorist Jaclyn Zundell, 24, of Hamden asleep in the driverâs seat of the unspecified vehicle, which was stopped facing in the wrong direction on the westbound half of the median.
Zundell was not injured, state police said. However, Newtown ambulance volunteers transported Zundell to Danbury Hospital after she reported having a panic attack, state police said.
State police charged Zundell with driving under the influence. She is scheduled to appear in court to answer the charge.

Interstate DUI
While traveling on an Exit 11 ramp for Interstate 84 at about 10:50 pm on May 13, motorist Andy Thai Vuong, 30, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Honda S-2000 sports car, struck some guardcabling along the left road shoulder, state police said.
Vuong was not injured. State police charged him with driving under the influence. Vuong is scheduled to appear in court to answer the charge.
Intersection Crash
About 6:30 am on May 13, motorist Arbnesha Limani, 39, of 6 Blue Spruce Drive, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Passat sedan, attempted to make a left turn from eastbound Blue Spruce Drive onto northbound South Main Street, as trucker Zibigniew Zatorowski, 62, of Stratford was driving a 1998 Mack CL-7 truck northward on South Main Street, police said.
The two vehicles then collided, police said.
Limani reported arm pain and was evaluated at the scene by ambulance volunteers, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident.
Police issued Limani an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.
