Jadwiga M. Kijewski
Jadwiga M. Kijewski, 80, of the Birmingham Health Care Center in Derby, formerly of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Aleksander Kijewski, died April 22 at Birmingham Health Care Center.
She was the mother of Andrew Kijewski of Newtown.
She was born in Wilno, Poland, on January 28, 1921, daughter of the late Witold and Janina (Niedzielska) Luczakowska. She moved to Liverpool, England, where she served as a nurse in the Royal Air Force during World War II. She moved to the United States 50 years ago and was a communicant of St Joseph Church in Ansonia.
Mrs Kijewski is also survived by sons, Michael Kijewski of Milford, Chester Kijewski and his wife, Ania, of Wallingford, and George Kijewski and his wife, Joanna, of Port St Lucy, Fla.; a daughter, Agnes Phipps of Seymour; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a sister, Wanda Abramik.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 26 at St Joseph Church, Ansonia. Burial was in St Michael Cemetery in Derby.
The Hylwa Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, was in charge of arrangements.
