*BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND will make their first ever appearance at Comcast Theatre in Hartford (formerly The Meadows), and tickets for the August 19 show will be going on sale this morning at 9⦠and quickly selling out, Iâm sre.
Tickets are just $35 for the lawn and $98 for reserved seating, which will make competition for these 30,000 seats that much tougher. Good luck. Go through LiveNation.com online or by calling 877-598-8689.
*Another summer concert and one show for the fall were announced earlier this week, and tickets for both were slated to go on sale this morning (Friday, June 12 â sorry for the late notice).
THE PRETENDERS will be at The Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford on Friday, August 7; tickets are $38 and $48.
Juliette Lewis, who is expected to release her first solo album on September 1, will be opening that show.
On Sunday, October 18, IAN ANDERSON will bring his Acoustic Jethro Tull Tour to Connecticut, also performing at the Wallingford theater. All seats for that show are $55.
Visit LiveNation.com or call 877-598-8689 for tickets and additional information.
*Looking for something different for Sunday afternoon? If you arenât a member of Wilton Library Associationâs Friends of the Library, then attending the groupâs 114th annual meeting might not sound like something to aim for⦠until you hear that the meeting (which is open to the public for anyone interested) will be followed around 5 pm with a performance by the rock/gospel/folk acoustic band EXIT 43.
Not only that, but the band includes Newtown resident and international blues performer Scarlett Lee Moore on vocals and percussions. This would be the Ms Moore, yes, who was twice voted Fairfield Countyâs Best Blues Performer.
Sheâll be joined by the regular crew: Andy âA.J.â Gundell (vocals, guitar, harmonica), songwriter, singer, composer and winner of 13 Emmy Awards; Suzanne M. Sheridan (vocals and guitar), songwriter (â90 Pound Suburban Housewife Driving in Her SUVâ), singer, photographer, and workshop leader; and Ed Thompson (keyboards) arranger, composer, conductor, and music educator. A reception will follow the performance, and registration is encouraged; call 203-762-3950 or visit WiltonLibrary.org. The library is at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in the heart of Wilton Center.
*Iâm going to end this week on a sad note, unfortunately. My thoughts and prayers have been with the Schwichtenberg family this week, after having learned that Karl Schwichtenberg died at his home in Sandy Hook last weekend.
A guitarist and member of Spontaneous Combustion, Karl had been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer earlier this year. Having watched a dear friend and her family go through the stages of this with her father just over a year ago, I know how devastating that news and the journey must have been for Karlâs wife and daughter, Erica and Diana. Karl, you may remember, was celebrated just a few months ago when friends and family hosted âJam For Karlâ at Edmond Town Hall, offering a night of blues, funk and rock in The Alexandria Room.
Karlâs memorial service was on Wednesday, again at Edmond Town Hall. If you are planning to attend and/or take part in this weekendâs Relay For Life over at Fairfield Hills, maybe keep Karl and his family in mind among those who are honored during the American Cancer Society event.
