Brushy Hill DUI

At about 4:34 am on July 22, after receiving a call about a motor vehicle accident having occurred on Brushy Hill Road near its intersection with Elm Drive, police responded to that area to investigate.

Police said that they determined that motorist Matthew A. DiNoto, 21, of 1 Orchard Lane drove off the right road shoulder and then struck a bridge abutment and some wooden guardposts.

Police said they charged DiNoto with driving under the influence, making a restricted turn, and failure to carry a vehicle registration.

After processing the case, police released DiNoto on $200 bail for an August 3 court appearance.

Electronics Theft

Police report that sometime during the period of July 13–16, a burglary/larceny occurred at a basement residence on Sutherland Drive in Sandy Hook. Sutherland Drive is a dead-end street that extends from Osborne Hill Road.

In that incident, someone stole a black LG-brand 32-inch flat screen television and an audio amplifier that is covered with gray carpeting, police said.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.

 

South Main DUI

Police said that they stopped motorist Patrick C. Hill, 56, of 10 West Street at about 10:30 pm on July 19, after he was seen driving a vehicle over the road’s central double-yellow lines on South Main Street.

After investigating, police charged Hill with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Police said that after processing, they released Hill on $150 bail for an August 2 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

Police report that they located Charles P. Hill, 28, of 50 Osborne Hill Road at about 10:23 pm on July 20 at the Blue Colony Diner at 66 Church Hill Road, after which they served Hill with a warrant on charges of fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

The police investigation which led to their obtaining a warrant against Hill stems from a May 21 complaint.

Also, in the process of apprehending Hill, police said they found some drug paraphernalia in his vehicle, resulting in an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they released Hill on $5,000 bail for an August 3 court appearance.

MV Charges

Police said that they were at a residential property at 5 Frontage Road at about 9:49 pm on July 20 working on an investigation, when they saw motorist Ivette McRae-Worrell, 57, of that address drive up to the driveway and then start to back away.

Police said they stopped McRae-Worrell and then investigated, charging her with driving with a suspended vehicle registration, failure to have automotive insurance, and failure to comply with automotive emissions requirements.

Police said they released her on a written promise to appear in court on August 3.

 

Oakville Man

While on patrol about 2:04 pm on July 20, police encountered a vehicle that was stopped in the westbound travel lane near 11 Mile Hill Road, so they investigated.

Police said that motorist Matthew Piccirillo, 22, of Oakville told them that his vehicle had run out of fuel.

Police said they charged Piccirillo with driving under suspension. Police released him on a written promise to appear on August 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

SUV Vs Deer

At about 10:15 pm on July 19, motorist Michael Buonagurio, 49, of Bethel was driving a 2010 Ford Escape SUV northward near 217 Berkshire Road, when a deer ran out onto the street and collided with the vehicle, police said. The deer then ran off. Buonagurio was not injured.

Church Hill Accident

At about 3:32 pm on July 18, motorist Benedetta Iorillo, 72, of Rye, N.Y., was driving a 2006 Honda Civic sedan westward on Church Hill Road and then stopped at a red traffic signal at that street’s intersection with Commerce Road, police said.

Westbound motorist Troy Williams, 29, of Torrington, who was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra sedan, then struck the rear end of the Honda, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Williams a written warning for following too closely.

Sand Hill Plaza

Police said they responded to Sand Hill Plaza, a shopping center at 228 South Main Street, at about 12:42 pm on July 18 to investigate a two-vehicle accident that occurred in the parking lot.

The collision involved motorist Ryan Lancaster, 17, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville sedan, and motorist Jeanine Parsons, 41, of 9 Cider Mill Road, who was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse SUV, police report.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Interstate DUI

State police report that they stopped motorist Erica L. Godin, 25, of Watertown on eastbound Interstate 84 near Exit 9 at about 2:40 am on July 22 for erratic driving.

State police said that after investigating, they charged Godin with driving under the influence, reckless driving above 85 mph, and with failure to drive in the proper lane on a multilane highway.

Godin was released on $500 bail for a July 30 court appearance, according to state police.

I-84 DUI

State police said they received a call concerning a motor vehicle accident that had occurred on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 10 at about 2:48 am on July 22, so they went to the area to investigate.

As a result, motorist Edward T. Silva, 28, of Danbury was charged with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane on a multilane highway, state police report.

Silva was released on $500 bail for an August 6 court appearance, state police report.

Highway DUI

State police said that they were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident about 3:09 am on July 18 on westbound Interstate 84 near Exit 10.

After an investigation, state police charged motorist Vyacheslav Dergunov, 24, of West Hartford with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to drive in the proper lane on a multilane highway.

State police said Dergunov was released on $750 bail for a July 30 court appearance.

I-84 Accident

At about 2:04 pm on July 20, motorist Allison Cunningham, 42, of Hamden was driving a 2002 Mazda station wagon on the Exit 10 on-ramp for westbound Interstate 84, when the vehicle went out of control on the wet pavement, state police said.

The Mazda struck some guardcabling along the road shoulder. Cunningham reported pain but refused medical attention, state police said. Cunningham received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions, according to state police.

 

Meters Found

Police report that at about 2 pm on July 23, a black box that contained five metering devices was found near the intersection of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road. Police said that the owner of the meters may contact them at the police station to claim the items.

DUI Incident

Police report that they received a call informing them that a man was seen stumbling out of a vehicle after having parked it in a parking lot at a shopping center at 71 South Main Street, so they went there to investigate at about 7:15 pm on July 24.

Police said they charged motorist Timothy E. Gillespie, 55, of 9 Kelly Court with driving under the influence. After processing, police released Gillespie on $100 bail for an August 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant against him, Edward W. Cooper III, 32, of Brookfield went to the police station at about 6 pm on July 24 and was charged with six offenses stemming from a motor vehicle accident last October 18 near 187 South Main Street, police said.

Police said they charged Cooper with failure to drive to the right, distracted driving, driving a motor vehicle in Connecticut with an out-of-state vehicle registration beyond 60 days, driving a motor vehicle in Connecticut with a valid out-of-state license beyond 30 days, possession of less than one-half ounce of a cannabis-type substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police have said that Cooper was driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup truck northward on South Main Street midday last October 18, when he swerved into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with southbound local motorist who was driving a 2007 Honda CRV SUV. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

After processing on July 24, Cooper was released on a written promise to appear on August 7 in Danbury Superior Court, police said.

Chrysler Vs Nissan

Police report a two-vehicle accident in the parking lot at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 1 pm on July 23.

In that incident, a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Yesenia Rodriguez, 40, of 9 Longview Road collided with a 2012 Nissan Versa sedan driven by Elizabeth Jeltema, 62, of Wheaton, Ill., police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

 

Evading Responsibility

Police are investigating an incident in which an unknown motorist collided with some fencing near a house on Poorhouse Road near the Bethel town line and then drove away from the scene without reporting the damaged fence.

Police said the incident occurred sometime between 5 am on July 20 and 7 pm on July 23. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the property damage to contact Officer William Chapman at the police station.

Buick Vs Tree

Police report that motorist Philip Hickey, 17, of 41 Brushy Hill Road was driving a 2000 Buick LeSabre sedan northward on Deep Brook Road about 7:23 pm on July 23, when Hickey lost control of the auto and then struck a tree along the right road shoulder.

Neither Hickey nor two passengers were injured. Police said they issued Hickey an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
