Hockey Camp
Hockey Camp
The Nighthawks Ice Hockey Summer Development Camp will be offered for children ages 8-14 (squirt, pee wee, and bantam level players), August 13-16, at Newtown Middle School and The Rinks At Shelton.
The camp will include a series of off ice and on ice development sessions geared toward improving the overall skills and hockey knowledge of each player while giving them tools they need to become better prepared for when their seasons start in the fall and ultimately preparing them for what is expected of them when they enter high school.
The camp will consist of two days of off-ice speed, agility, and conditioning drills, and two days of on-ice drills/practices. During day one and two players will also have classroom sessions to view video and will be given basic info on systems and nutrition. Video footage of campers will be available for viewing at home through the HUDL.com video online service which the Newtown High School team uses. Campers will be able to set up an account to see their camp video to study. Players will also receive a camp t-shirt.
This camp will not include any checking drills. Participants are asked to register by August 6. There needs to be a minimum of 15 skaters for the camp to be held. Cost is $250. Register through the Newtown Parks & Recreation link at www.newtown-ct.gov, and sign up with Activity number 409626 A.   Â
