Virgil W. âRedâ Cain, 81, of Newtown, died October 1 in the Laurel Ridge Health Care Center in Ridgefield.
He was the husband of the late Helena R. (Frazier) Cain, who died in 1986.
A resident of Newtown since 1953, Mr Cain was born and raised in Littleton, W.Va., a son of the late William and Beatrice (Jackson) Cain.
Mr Cain was in the construction business in Connecticut for more than 40 years. He owned and operated the former Tamarack Construction Company, the R.C. Equipment Company, and Brookfield Sand and Gravel Company.
A veteran of World War II, Mr Cain served with the US Army.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna B. Kroha of Newtown; one son, David V. Cain of Newtown; and four grandchildren, Donald Kroha III, Allison Kroha, Patrick Cain, and Elizabeth Cain.
A Memorial Funeral Mass was held in St Rose of Lima Church, Church Hill Road, Newtown, on October 4.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham, Mass.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mr Cainâs name to the Newtown Ambulance or to the American Heart Association.
