Stephen Bonjour

Stephen Daniel Bonjour of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Hilton Head Island, S.C., died August 4 at the Stuart Center of the Cypress Club of Charlotte. Mr Bonjour was born on January 14, 1922, in New York City to the late John Daniel Bonjour and Marguerite (London) Bonjour.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elizabeth (Dahl) Bonjour of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, Douglas P. Bonjour and wife, Melodaine, of Newtown, David S. Bonjour and wife, Karin, of New Milford, and Richard D. Bonjour and wife, Kathy, of Weddington, N.C.; grandchildren Douglas and Courtney Bonjour of Newtown, and Jennifer and Stephen Bonjour of Weddington, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene B. Johnson of Columbia, S.C.

Mr Bonjour graduated from Orange High School, Orange, N.J. After serving in the Army Air Corps as a lieutenant during World War II, he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr Bonjour retired as vice president of US Banknote Corp. He was a member of Hilton Head Presbyterian Church and the Country Club of Hilton Head.

A memorial to celebrate his life was held August 7 at Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church, 3326 Archdale Drive, Charlotte, N.C.

Interment will be at 11 am on Monday, August 11, at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204; Sovereign Grace Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 3326 Archdale Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210, or Hilton Head Presbyterian Church, Youth Ministry, 235 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29925-3678.
