Seniors At Nunnawauk Meadows Enjoy Their Annual Picnic
Residents of Nunnawauk Meadows enjoyed the annual picnic put on by the directors of Newtown Housing for the Elderly Inc, owners of the development, and their spouses on Sunday.
Mike Neiman, president of NHE, could be seen running around making sure everything was well cooked and well in hand. More than 70 people were in attendance and everyone said that they all had more then enough good food to digest.
Entertainment was provided by John and Carol Stottle and Ken Lee. They played many old songs and the group knew all the words. The tunes of the Big Bands brought back many nostalgic memories.
Newtown Housing for the Elderly Inc is currently in the process of obtaining bids on the fifth expansion of the facilities. Currently, there are 120 apartments at the parklike complex and the current expansion intends to add 14 more units, which will become a part of the community building. This will allow the residents who may have difficulties getting around to become part of the communities activities held in the community building.
The plan also incorporates into the community-room complex rooms for a hair salon, a doctorâs examining room, and an arts and crafts room.
The picnic is just one of the many activities held at Nunnawauk during the summer. A number of outdoor entertainment concerts are held throughout the summer through the generosity of local service clubs and companies.
