How long have you lived in town? We have lived here for 26 years.
What do you like to do in your free time? I don’t have much free time. I am president of Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP), I am a member of Newtown Rotary Club, where I am also sergeant at arms and program director, as well as a board member. And I am a member of the board of directors of Newtown Parent Connection. I love to play golf in the free time I have, and I love to read.
Do you have a favorite author? I like legal thrillers or mysteries best. John Grisham, David Baldacci, Nelson Demille are some authors I like, for example, among others. I just finished reading Go Set A Watchman, by Harper Lee, also. I thought it was great.
Do you have a favorite sports team? I am a die-hard Yankee and Giants fan.
Do you have a favorite vacation destination? I love the Caribbean — Aruba or Curacao. But I also like the Jersey shore, and Rhode Island beaches.
What is the best thing about Newtown? I love that Newtown and Sandy Hook, in particular, is such a strong and close-knit community. We stick together. I love Sandy Hook.
Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My mother taught me the importance of helping others whenever you can. No matter how bad you think you have it, there is always somebody who has it worse, who could use your help. She taught me the importance of giving back to the community, too.
Did you have a favorite toy, growing up? It was not really a toy, but a basketball. I always had a basketball in my hand.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? It was always beer and cigars. I quit smoking nine months ago, but I still enjoy a good beer!
