Demonstration In Oil For Next SCAN Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Paul Batch painting a landscape in oil at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 pm. The program take place in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
Paul Batch is a young contemporary painter who is developing a reputation for evocative atmospheric landscapes. He captures the fleeting light cast by the passing sun or moon. He focuses on transition, painting times of day or changing weather conditions.
“I am drawn to the beauty of the transition moments in time…twilight, a passing storm, the moon rising,” said the artist. “The beauty comes in part from our awareness that these moments are fleeting”.
Mr Batch earned a BFA and an MFA from Hartford Art School. He is currently teaching portraiture and landscape classes through West Hartford Art League.
He has received awards from the Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America. His work has been published in International Artist Magazine, The Artist Magazine and The Art of the Portrait Journal.
Admission is always free, and reservations are not needed for SCAN programs, but additional information is available by calling 203-426-6654.
